The football transfer season is on. Since it was thrown open on July 1, quite a number of transfers have been concluded.

While some of these have been done within the continent of Europe, the majority of the world's leading football players have moved outside the continent to ply their trade with most moving to the Saudi Pro League.

Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al Nassr in the January transfer window opened the floodgates for more signing.

With the window set to close later in August, below are some players who have been linked to other clubs across the globe.

- Aston Villa has secured the signature of Spain defender Pau Torres, 26, from Villarreal in a deal worth £35m. (Source: The Guardian)
