Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro praise Morocco for reaching the semi-final of the World Cup but insists the Atlas Lions have become a defensive team at the tournament.

The Atlas Lion on Saturday eliminated Portugal to become the first African side to reach the semi-final of the World Cup.

Morocco also has the best defensive record at the 2022 World Cup, conceding just a (own goal) in six games, despite playing Spain, Croatia, Belgium and Portugal.

“Morocco is a big team but playing defensive in the World Cup, that is different.

Peseiro also revealed the sides that impress him at the ongoing 2022 World Cup.

“For Argentina, Netherlands and Croatia they try to be more effective and also offensive, but I like Brazil, Portugal, France and England because of their offensive play,” he said.

Peseiro who is currently in Qatar is seven months into his role as the Head coach of the three-time African Champions.

And with 2022 gradually whining down, the Portuguese expressed gratitude to Nigerian fans, NFF and the media for their support, promising a much-improved Super Eagles in 2023.

“I like to say thank you to our fans, the media, the Football Federation for their support they should look forward to seeing the best of Super Eagles as we look forward to qualifying and winning the next AFCON,” he told NFF TV.
