Social media was thrown into a frenzy when the prize money Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman received following their display against Sao Tome and Principe emerged on social media.

The duo were handed the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and Man of the Match (MoTM) award after the game at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The Super Eagles thrashed Sao Tome and Principe by 6-0. The Parrots were beaten 10-0 in the reverse fixture.

The Super Eagles will hope to win a fourth AFCON title in Cote d'Ivoire in next year's tournament.

Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has been encouraged to defeat the goal-scoring record held by Rashidi Yekini.

After scoring his 20th goal for Nigeria on Sunday, Osimhen stirred the confidence of Nigerians who believe the Napoli man will soon become the all-time highest goal scorer for the country, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old scored a hat-trick and took his tally to 20 goals in 26 games, needing 17 more goals to match Rashidi Yekini’s long-standing record of 37 goals.

Osimhen has just moved past Obafemi Martins who scored 18 goals and Ikechukwu Uche on 19 goals and sits just behind Yakubu Aiyegbeni (21), Segun Odegbami (23), and Yekini (37).

“Victor Osimhen now has 20 goals in 26 goals for Nigeria. With 0.77 goal per game, he surpasses other leading scorers for Nigeria, but the absolute goal count is the most important metric. Moving to second place is already guaranteed, but can he break Yekini’s record to move to Nigeria’s all-time highest goalscorer,” an enthusiast, Suraj Olawale tweeted after the game.
