Moises Caicedo: Chelsea star discloses Enzo Fernandez detail that made him reject Liverpool

Moises Caicedo has now revealed new details that made him choose Chelsea over Liverpool earlier in the summer.

The dynamic defensive midfielder, then at Brighton and Hove Albion, was one of the hottest commodities, with his services being courted by a myriad of top clubs.

He came close to joining Arsenal in January, but Brighton refused to sanction a transfer. Chelsea were understood to be the favourites to land the Ecuadorian, only for Liverpool's fee to be accepted by the Seagulls.

But in an interesting turn of events, Caicedo rejected an approach from Jurgen Klopp's men, choosing to wait for Chelsea's bid instead, which came in the form of a British transfer record fee of 115 million euros, as reported by the Guardian.

How Enzo Fernandez convinced Caicedo

The 22-year-old has now revealed that a phone call he had with Enzo Fernandez, another marquee Chelsea signing, convinced him to pick West Londo over Merseyside.

"It was a nice chat. I mean, the fact that a world champion was phoning you, one of the best midfielders in the world. Receiving that call was very nice and he convinced me to come here," as quoted by 90MIN.

Fernandez had just won the World Cup with Argentina and voted the best young player before Chelsea paid an excess of 106 million euro fee to Benfica.

The duo has since settled in well under Mauricio Pochettino despite the hot and cold results. They will face an acid test on November 12 when they line up against the defending champions, Manchester City.
