Former captain of the Super Eagles, John Obi Mikel was in action for Stoke City in Tuesday's championship clash against Swansea City.

Despite maintaining his place in the line-up for the eighth consecutive game, the midfielder couldn't help but see his team stumble to defeat, suffering a 2-0 loss at the Liberty Stadium.

The Potters went into the game at the back of their 3 – 2 home win over Brentford on Sunday, but they were brought down to earth as Jay Fulton put in the home side in front at 30 minutes, Brila.net reported.

The Michael O’Neil tutored side threatened for many parts of the game to find an equalizer, but it was Swansea City who sealed the three points through a goal from Kasey Palmer in the 89th minutes.

Stoke City dropped to the ninth position on the table as the result of the defeat, while Swansea City moved up to the second position.
