Former Arsenal and Real Madrid star midfielder Mesut Ozil has waded into the never-ending Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo debate.

The former German international who played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid admitted to the difficulty of picking one player ahead of the other.

Ozil, however, believes the Argentine World Cup winner is the better footballer of the two stars even though he played alongside the Portuguese international at Real Madrid.

Sharing his thought on the two players, Ozil opted for Lionel Messi on the basis of his remarkable feat at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last December.

“It’s a difficult question.. but I will choose Messi, because he won the World Cup,” as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Prior to Lionel Messi's World Cup triumph, Ozil had always opted for Cristiano Ronaldo.
