Mauricio Pochettino boldly declares Chelsea can win Premier League title

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino believes his side is on course to winning the Premier League title in the near future.

Pochettino cited data from at least 10 young players in his side who he believes have experienced immense growth as football players during his time at the club.

His comments came amid anger from Chelsea’s fan base, and the most recent wave of disapproval from fans came in Chelsea’s last home game, when section of the Blues faithful chanted “You don’t know what you’re doing”.

The Blues sit in 11th place on the log with 10 games of the season to go. Surely Pochettino cannot afford any slip ups as his side prepares to take on Burnley on Saturday, March 30.

Ahead of the game, the Argentine spoke at a press conference where he exuded confidence in the work he is doing. He singled out Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk as one of the players that is getting better with time under his guidance.

“When we came here we knew the challenge would be to help — not just one or two (young players) — by maybe 10,’ said Pochettino. ‘If we were not calm and didn’t analyse the project in the way we do, maybe today you would be talking to different coaches here,” Pochettino said, per Standard.

Pochettino continued by saying the team would win the Premier League in the future, with or without him.

“Of course, we want to win the Premier League. Yes, one day we will. But if not, for sure another coaching staff will win it because this process needs to happen.”

When did Chelsea last win the league

Chelsea are heading into a seventh season without any success in terms of the Premier League.

The last time they secured the title was in during the 2016-17 season, when Antonio Conte was in charge of the club, according to Marca.

Since then, Manchester City has dominated the English top flight, winning five titles including the last three.
