Man Utd set lowest record ever in five years

It's certainly not the kind of record Manchester United fans were expecting when the team filed out against Wolverhampton Wonderers in the FA Cup fixture on Saturday.

In a game that ended goalless at the Molineux, United failed to record a single shot on target for the first time since January 2015.

With United having a two-legged EFL Cup semi-final against Manchester City this month, the Old Trafford replay will take up their only spare January midweek without a game, BBC revealed.

For Wolves, it adds to a marathon season that has already reached 36 games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men had a total of 12 shots throughout the game but none was on target as the club continues to struggle to return to glory days.

Sergio Romero seemed busier of both goalies after pulling two fine saves from Wolves' 12 shots to deny the home side and save United from elimination.

The replay will be at Old Trafford between the next two rounds of Premier League fixtures and comes after both clubs - as with every other English professional club - had four matches to play over the festive period.

For United, who like Wolves have reached the last 32 of the Europa League, it means that by the time these side play again in the league on 1 February, they will have played a minimum 18 games in 63 days - and even more if they do eventually reach the fourth round.
