Lionel Messi’s wife explains his new celebration after perfect start to MLS life, video

Lionel Messi's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, has appeared to shed light on the new celebration he used on his first start for Inter Miami.

Messi lasted close to 80 minutes as he helped his new team beat Atlanta United in the Leagues Cup on July 25. The Argentine scored two goals and assisted another in the 4-0 rout.

That performance came hot on the heels of the sublime free kick he took on his debut against Cruz Azul in stoppage time.

During the game against Atlanta, Messi debuted a new celebration when he appeared to use a comic book gesture towards David Beckham. However, a new set of photos, backed by his wife's subtle Instagram story, has lifted the lid on what the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was trying to pull off.

Rocuzzo shared Messi's celebration with the word 'Thorsday' loosely translated from 'Thursday.' Thor Odinson is a famous fictional character in Marvel Universe.

Messi looked at where his family was and put on a serious face, imitating when Thor reaches for a hammer. His sons smiled back, seemingly appreciating the gesture.

The celebration was initially thought to be aimed at Beckham, with the Inter-Miami co-owner caught smiling Messi's way. It would be interesting to see if the former Paris Saint-Germain star will be using the same celebration in his subsequent games.
