Despite being in contention for the top scorer award in the French Ligue 1, Nigerian striker, Terem Moffi has said his main focus is to help his team qualify for Europe next season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 23-year-old is enjoying his best season in the current Ligue 1 campaign having scored 16 league goals.

Moffi who began the 2022/2023 campaign with FC Lorient scored 12 goals for Les Merlus before securing a move to OGC Nice in the winter transfer window.

After firing blanks in his first three matches, the Super Eagles striker broke his duck against Monaco in February and has gone ahead to score 4 league goals in 8 appearances for Les Aiglons.

The Nigerian international is just 3 goals behind Kylian Mbappe and Jonathan David who are joint top scorers in the league with 19 goals.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with PUNCH, the Super Eagles star stated that he is not focused on winning the Golden Boot in France but rather he wants to help his team to win their games.

“Obviously every striker thinks about winning the Golden Boot, but at the moment, I am more focused on helping my team win games and we try to achieve European football next season,” Moffi told The PUNCH.

“Our collective goal right now is we want to win games and reach the Europa Conference league finals and qualify for next year’s European Conference League or even the Europa League.”
