Leicester City manager Dean Smith has defended Wilfred Ndidi following his poor performance against Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Premier League title holders dispatched the Foxes 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, April 15.

Sadly, Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi was at fault twice leading to two Erling Haaland goals.

The 25-year-old gave away a penalty in the early stages of the game after he was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

Ndidi also gave away possession leading to the second goal from the Norwegian after he was set up by Kevin De Bruyne.

Sharing his thoughts on the game, new Foxes manager Dean Smith described the incident as unfortunate.

“Yes, it’s unfortunate. I mean, Tim (Castagne) is looking to stop the cross. Jack Grealish lifts it, you know, to stand it up at the far post, and Wilf’s lifted his leg to try and stop it as well,” Smith told LCTV

“And if the ball doesn’t hit his hand, it hits his face. But I would have certainly been claiming that as well if I was their manager”

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored the consolation goal in the 75th minute.
