Chelsea have emerged as the latest club to make contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move for out-of-favour star Kylian Mbappe, who is placed on the transfer list.

Mbappe has a contract till 2024, but the Parisians don't want to lose him for free, with reports that he has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid to join next summer.

PSG accepted a world-record €300m transfer fee from Al-Hilal and proposed a contract worth €700m for a one-year contract, including image and commercial rights, but the player refused to negotiate with the Saudis.

A few other clubs have reportedly been linked to the 24-year-old, but he is determined to see out his contract in Paris, even if it means sitting on the bench for one year.

Chelsea make contact for Mbappe

Chelsea have become the latest club to step up interest in the former Monaco star and are willing to offer players plus cash to sign him, as reported by Daily Record.

Co-owner Todd Boehly reportedly made direct contact with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi who encouraged the Blues' interest in the player. However, an official offer is yet to be sent in.

Mbappe's situation puts the club in a difficult position after writing to the club communicating his desire not to extend his current contract, which expires next summer.

He was left out of the squad for the club's pre-season tour of Japan, which they drew one game and lost the other, clearly feeling the impact of their talisman under new boss Luis Enrique.
