Jamie Carragher angers Ronaldo fans with controversial comment about Messi

The Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi debate is probably the longest-running football debate in history. Every week, there's a fresh take from pundits and ex-footballers.

This time, it was Jamie Carragher who gave another take on the debate, and Ronaldo fans were outraged.

During CBS Sports Champions League broadcast this week, the former Liverpool defender said the endless debate is not even close.

"Ronaldo is nowhere near the level of Messi," said Carragher. "Ronaldo is one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time. Messi is the greatest player of all time. It's not even close," via ESPN

Many football fans considered the debate over when Messi led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup glory, but Ronaldo fans are certain the Al-Nassr superstar is the GOAT.

Even Messi's 8th Ballon d'Or win didn't change a thing for Ronaldo fans.

The two legendary stars have each scored hundreds of goals, won plenty of trophies and broken countless records, Most lists have them in the top two greatest footballers ever.
