Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi has admitted to his difficult start to life at the Merseyside club.

The Nigerian international was a key figure in Everton's relegation survival last term.

The 25-year-old was the only player to play in all the final 12 matches by the Toffees at the tail end of last season.

His versatility proved crucial for Frank Lampard's side as he was efficient when deployed in the central midfield area, as a wide forward, and as a wing-back.

Reflecting on the past season, the 25-year-old said:

“My first couple of years here weren’t the greatest but this [the final weeks of the season] was my best period at Everton,” he told the club's website.

The former Arsenal man added that he wants to make good memories with the club and possibly win a silverware for the Evertonians.

“I want to use it as a platform to kick on and make more positive memories with this club.

“I am youngish and have a lot of time ahead.

“I want to win something with Everton – and do my best for the Club.”

Iwobi was a key member of the Super Eagles team that played in the two AFCON qualifier matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome.

He scored the equalizer against Sierra Leone before Victor Osimhen added a second to secure a 2-1 win for Jose Peseiro's side at the national stadium in Abuja.
