Ivorian player slumps, dies after suffering cardiac arrest

An Ivorian defender who has been identified as Moustapha Sylla slumped on the pitch and died during an Ivorian topflight league game on Sunday, March 5.

LSI Africa reports that the 21-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest during a clash between his club Racing Club Abidjan and SOL FC at the Robert Champroux Stadium in Abidjan.

A viral video that has emerged on social media showed how the player slumped on the turf close to the centre circle as players of the opposing team rushed to help him up.

The former Djoliba Athletic Club player who joined the Ivorian side in September last year player died as he was being transported to the hospital, as per reports.
