Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has urged Nigeria's Victor Osimhen to consider a move to Chelsea.

Osimhen has long been linked with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United all reportedly interested in his signature.

The recently crowned African Footballer of the Year guided Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years after netting 25 goals in 31 appearances for the Naples-based club.

The Super Eagles striker has a release clause believed to be around the region of €120m following his recent contract extension with Napoli.

Recent reports claimed that the 25-year-old has agreed on a pre-contract deal to join the Blues in the summer.

Adebayor, who featured for Chelsea's London rivals like Arsenal, Tottenham and Crystal Palace believes Osimhen has the qualities to replace his idol Didier Drogba and excel in the Premier League.

He has the right attitude, mentality and determination to excel there [in England],” Adebayor told BBC Sport Africa.

“I’m praying for him to move to the Premier League and show what he’s capable of. The Premier League is the toughest and best [league] in the world.

“Osimhen has shown and done it already in Italy, I think it is the right time for him to move to England and replace his idol Drogba and do beautiful things. He has all it takes to make a name and write a great chapter in England like Drogba.”
