'It is bitterly frustrating' - Aribo rues Everton defeat

Joe Aribo Joe Aribo

Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo has expressed his disappointment following his side's defeat to Everton in the Premier League.

The Saints lost 2-1 at Saint Mary's after Aribo had put them ahead in the 49th minute.

Two goals in quick succession from Everton's Dwight McNeil and Conor Coady turned the game on its head for the Toffees who recorded their first back-to-back PL wins this season.

Speaking to the club's website after the game, the 26-year-old midfielder expressed his disappointment after his team bottled their one-goal lead.

“The boys are really disappointed. Going a goal ahead, it’s really frustrating to concede so soon, and the boys are disappointed because we wanted to get a result today and that wasn’t the case, the ex-Rangers man said.

“I was thinking about it earlier today, that we’ve been coming from behind, so to get a goal ahead was a good feeling.

“The squad is big, so everyone needs to be focused. We need to work together, be strong, be a unit and be ready to go.

“To concede so soon is bitterly frustrating, and I and the boys were really not happy about it. We need to go back to the drawing board, focus and learn from our mistakes.”

Southampton has lost their last three Premier League matches and currently sit 16th on the PL table, two points above the relegation zone.
