Former Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama says he will be open to joining the coaching setup as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) scouts for a new coach.

The NFF officially announced the Super Eagles coaching role vacant early this week following the departure of Jose Peseiro.

Peseiro's stint came to an end after the just-ended African Cup of Nations where the Super Eagles finished second.

With a new coaching staff yet to be formed, Enyeama arguably Nigeria's greatest-ever goalkeeper says he will "gladly do it" if given the opportunity.

“I don’t have a problem if they wake up tomorrow and say, Vincent, come and be part of the setup - I will gladly do it. I can never say no to my country, I have always said that," the former Lille goalkeeper said.

“I can never say no to Nigeria. I will bring my experience over the years in Europe, and we will do it. But they have to call me first”.

Several names have been linked to the role, including former players like Finidi George, Emmanuel Amuneke, and Augustine Egavoen.

Nigeria's goalkeeping crisis appears to have been solved following the heroics of
shot-stopper, Stanley Nwabali at the tournament. Per the statistics leading up to the semi-finals against South Africa, the Chippa United goalie faced 11 shots, saved 10 of them, and played for 439 minutes.

Nigeria's next coach will be tasked with helping the country reach the 2025 AFCON and qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Peseiro and his players were rewarded handsomely for their achievements. Many Nigerians expected the Portuguese to continue.
