Ivorian legend Didier Drogba has lamented the poor performance of Chelsea in the wake of their UEFA Champions League exit.

The Blues failed to find the back of the net in the two legs against Real Madrid as two goals from Rodrygo condemned Frank Lampard's side to a 4-0 defeat on aggregate.

Lampard has lost all four matches since his return to the Chelsea dugout as interim boss till the end of the season.

Chelsea sits 11th in the Premier League with 39 points with seven matches left to play despite spending over £600m on signings since Todd Boehly became the new club owner.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's crucial encounter against the Los Blancos, the Blues legend noted that the club has lost its identity.

“I knew this club with a certain class during the Abramovich era, but today I find it lacking. It’s very hard for me to see how they got rid of certain people,” Drogba told CanalPlus.

“They should go back to the principles and values they had. I don’t recognise my club anymore.”

Drogba won 14 trophies with Chelsea during his nine-year stay at the club. He was the main architect behind Chelsea's first UCL triumph in 2012.
