The Nigerian Football Federation are reportedly interested in recruiting French tactician, Herve Renard, as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finalists are yet to announce a new national coach following the departure of Jose Peseiro in February.

Former Super Eagles forward, Finidi George, has been named interim coach and took charge for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali in March.

However, after a win and a defeat in the international break, the NFF are still in pursuit of a new coach and some believe Finidi is not the man for the job.

Renard, who led Zambia and Ivory Coast to AFCON success in 2012 and 2015, respectively, is currently manager of the French female team but will leave his role this summer, as reported by French Football Weekly.

This has reportedly prompted Nigeria to make a move for the in-demand gaffer, who is also interested in leading a team at the World Cup after his adventure with Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

"In the back of my mind, there is the 2026 World Cup, and I hope that this will be my third World Cup as a coach," he told L'Equipe.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will be hoping to get a deal done before the return of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, where the Super Eagles face South Africa and Benin.

Renard is also said to be on the radar of the Cameroonian Football Federation.
