'He deserves it' - Okocha on why Osimhen should win the CAF POTY

Former Super Eagles captain, Jay Jay Okocha says Victor Osimhen deserves to win the 2023 CAF Awards later this month.

The award that will recognize the best player on the continent will take place on
11th of December at the Movenpick Hotel in Marrakech, Morocco.

Like every other year, the highlight will be who wins the Male Payer Of The Year Award.

“He[Osimhen] deserves it because for me, he was the most consistent player of last season. He deserves it,” Okocha said in a Bundesliga media round table.

Osimhen would be looking to end Nigeria’s 24-year wait for CAF’s crown but has stern competition from Morrocan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, and former Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez.

Nigerian striker Osimhen is one of the favorites for the award after leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years with 26 goals.

If Osimhen wins it, it would be the icing on the cake after getting nominated for the Balon d’Or and FIFA Best awards earlier this year.
