Premier League giants Chelsea have appointed Nigeria's Hassan Sulaiman as the new head coach of the U-18 team.

Sulaiman was initially appointed on an interim basis following Ed Brand’s departure last month before his role was confirmed this month.

The new U-18 gaffer has been part of the setup at Chelsea academy since 2008 and has risen through the ranks over the years.

Prior to his promotion as head coach of U-18, Sulaiman served as head coach of the club's U-16 team.

Reacting to his appointment, Sulaiman said “I am delighted to take on this new role and this is an opportunity that I am really looking forward to. I want to thank the leadership team for having the confidence in me to continue the success of the Academy.”

Sulaiman was an Arsenal prospect whose career was cut short by injuries while on loan at Aldershot Town and St. Albans in the English lower leagues.

He has also worked with Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomoro age group while working at the Blues academy.
