Harry Maguire’s wife Fern Hawkins responded to news that her hubby was stripped of captaincy with a delightful message of support on social media.

On Sunday, July 16, Maguire announced on social media that he would not be th Red Devils’ captain next season, in a revelation which opened the door for a potential exit.

“He (Ten Hag) outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt”. Maguire said in his statement.

The 30-year-old’s statement had strong hints that it was not his decision to relinquish the armband, with his wife taking to social media with a brief but telling statement to back him.

“Forever proud of you & with you every step of the way” Hawkins shared on Instagram after reposting the centre back’s initial post.
Maguire joined United for £80million from Leicester in 2019, but has failed to hit the ground running at Old Trafford.

The centre back is always at the back of banter from fans, who have developed a keen eye on his mistakes on the pitch.

Since Erik Ten Hag took over at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order, especially after the signing of Lisandro Martiinez.

Hawkins has been with Maguire through the struggles, having been with the defender since his days at Sheffield United.

As reported on The Mirror, the couple got married last year at the Chateau de Varennes, and Hawkins recently shared a cute anniversary post to celebrate her husband.

Maguire’s wife is not the only one to publicly support the former Leicester star, with Gary Neville, a former United captain, also hailing his decision to go public with the axe.
