Guardiola kicks, says VAR is a big mess

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has described the Video Assistance Referee, VAR, as a mess in the English Premier League.

Guardiola disclosed this after his side defeated Sheffield United 2-0 on Sunday.

The game saw VAR deny Sheffield United the opening goal with Lys Mousset said to be offside.

The opening goal was later gotten by Sergio Aguero for City after referee Chris Kavanagh interfered in a build up play.

“I said many times I have a huge list for VAR. Every weekend is a big mess.

“In other games it was a big mess. Hopefully next season it can do better,” Guardiola said.

Guardiola also revealed that he is now setting his sight on next season as he believes the league has already been won by Liverpool.

“It’s unrealistic to think about it [catching Liverpool],” he said.

“When a team has the numbers that Liverpool has why should we think about it, when we are 14 [points] or 17 behind?

“Prepare, play good, be as close as possible, play the knockouts and prepare for next season. Next season we will be here and hopefully, we can do better.”
