Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed fears that striker Kun Aguero might have suffered a season-ending injury against Burnley.

The Citizens thrashed Burnley at the Etihad on Monday night, 5-0 courtesy two goals apiece from Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez and a single goal David Silva.

However, Aguero who made his first start since the league was restarted, was fouled in the box towards the end of the first half in a tackle that would be given as a penalty by VAR.

The Argentine striker, He had limped off by the time that Riyad Mahrez slammed home the penalty kick to make it 3-0.

Speaking on Aguero's injury after the match, Guardiola said: "It doesn't look good. unfortunately," said Guardiola. "We are going to see tomorrow. he was struggling in the last month with a problem in the knee and now he felt something so we will see tomorrow exactly what he has but it doesn't look good for this season.

"Tomorrow we will see and know exactly what he has. The doctor says it will take time. A few games [out] for sure but maybe tomorrow the tests he will get good news - we will see."

Pep Guardiola's side head to Chelsea on Thursday in a game that could hand Liverpool the title should they lose, before travelling to Newcastle for an FA Cup quarter-final that they will be targeting as one of two remaining competitions they can still win this season.
