Good news as Sadiq Umar resumes full training after eight months injury layoff

Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq has resumed full training at Real Sociedad after suffering a career-threatening injury that saw him miss action for the past eight months.

Following a successful spell with UD Almeria in the Segunda Division where he netted 18 league goals to propel the Andalusian side to the Spanish topflight, the lanky Super Eagles striker joined Real Sociedad for a reported fee of €20million.

Sadiq was signed to fill the vacuum that was created following the departure of Alexander Isak to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Super Eagles striker began life at his club on a blistering note, scoring on his debut against Athletico Madrid.

Sadly, the former Roma striker sustained a nasty crucial ligament injury in his third game against Getafe on September 11.

The 26-year-old has since missed 43 games for his new side.

Despite losing an important player in Sadiq, Real Sociedad has however had a decent campaign, as they currently sit in 4th place in La Liga and are on the verge of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season.

In a video shared by the club via its social media handle, Sadiq could be seen joining his teammates in training as they welcome him warmly with a guard of honour.

Sociedad will take on champions Barcelona in their next La Liga fixture.
