Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been adjudged the Best African International Player at the Ghana Football Awards.

The ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana on Sunday, June 25.

Osimhen's remarkable season with Napoli did not go unnoticed as he became the first Nigerian to claim the prize.

The 24-year-old beat the likes of Manchester City's Riyadh Mahrez, Liverpool's Mo Salah and Seville's shot stopper Yassine Bounou to the prize.

The Super Eagles striker inspired Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years, scoring 26 goals in the Serie A.

He surpassed George Weah's record as the African player with the most Serie A goals.

With his prolific goal-scoring form, he also won the best striker in the Italian topflight, becoming the first African to win the Paolo Rossi Award in the process.

Osimhen managed an astonishing 31 goals in all competitions for Luciano Spalletti's side last season.
