Gala coach anticipates Osimhen’s early return

Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has provided an update on the recovery of Victor Osimhen, expecting him to rejoin the squad in the coming weeks, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Turkish giants have played two matches without the star striker, who sustained an arm injury during their UEFA Champions League play-off against Liverpool at Anfield.

They lost their first game in his absence 2-1 to Trabzonspor but bounced back on Wednesday with a 3-1 win at Göztepe, restoring their four-point lead at the top of the Super Lig table.

After the game, Buruk spoke about Osimhen’s recovery, noting that he could be included in the matchday squad for their clash against Gençlerbirliği next Saturday.

“Victor Osimhen could be in the squad for the Gençlerbirliği match if conditions are suitable. However, we might also have a situation where we use him in the Fenerbahçe match,” Buruk said.

Before Wednesday’s game, the club revealed that the player had already resumed light running drills at their training facility.

If Buruk’s prediction turns out correctly, Osimhen will miss just one more league match — Sunday’s tie against Kocaelispor at home.

Meanwhile, following surgery on his arm, he is expected to be sidelined at least until the end of April.

Galatasaray fans are hopeful of his earlier-than-expected return, especially ahead of the derby against rivals Fenerbahçe on April 26.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal for €75m last summer, has made a significant impact, scoring 12 league goals and adding seven more in European competitions this season.
