Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has declined to give a return date for Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi who has been on the sidelines since last month.

The Nigerian striker was withdrawn with 20 minutes left on the clock after scoring the only goal in his side's 1-0 victory away at Southampton on January 4.

Medical examination revealed that the 25-year-old sustained an injury to his groin and his return date remains a mystery to the Welsh man.

“It is difficult to give a real-time on it,” Cooper said prior to the club’s trip to Bournemouth.

“He has been a little bit up and down with it from one day to the next, on the injury settling down and getting into rehab.

“There is nothing I can say about that, really. He’s doing everything he can. We’re doing everything. Hopefully we can get a breakthrough soon.”

Awoniyi joined the Reds last summer for a club-record fee of £17m. He has netted 4 Premier League goals in 16 appearances for Forest.
