Five facts you didn't know about Odion Ighalo as he celebrates his birthday

Here are five interesting facts about Former Super Eagles and Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo:

1. He is the first Nigerian to play for United, having joined on loan from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in the Chinese Super League until June 30, 2020.

2. His first United goal in the Europa League against FC Brugge was dedicated to his sister, Mary. She died in December 2020 at age 43.

3. His humble upbringing prompted him to start the Ighalo Orphanage Foundation in Lagos in 2017. He was born and raised in a slum.

4. His first football boots were purchased with proceeds from the sale of bottled water and soft beverages. It was a pair of Adidas Copa Mundials.

5. Ighalo made his Nigerian national team debut in 2015.

He played for his country in the 2018 World Cup and was the leading scorer in their qualification campaign for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as well as the continental tournament, where they placed third.
