FIFA gives Peseiro green light to quit Super Eagles over unpaid wages

Super Eagles head Coach Jose Peseiro is permitted to vacate his role as coach of the senior national team if he so desires on the basis of unpaid salaries from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

As per FIFA regulations, the Portuguese gaffer can terminate his contract with the NFF as he has gone the required three months without a salary even though it is not an option he is considering, as per reports.

The former Sporting CP manager was appointed as head coach of the Super Eagles by the NFF in May following Augustine Eguaveon's failure to qualify Nigeria for the World Cup.

He has since won all two of his competitive matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.

The 62-year-old has however lost 3 out of the 4 friendly matches he has handled for the team.

Peseiro will be on the bench when the three-time African champions trade tackles with his native country Portugal in a pre-World Cup friendly next month.
