Super Falcons remains the best women's national team in Africa according to the latest FIFA World ranking released on Friday, December 9.

The nine-time African champions are ranked the 40th-best team in the world and the best in Africa despite their failure to defend the Women's Nations Cup in July.

Coach Waldrum's side were beaten in the semi-finals by host team Morocco and finished the tournament in fourth place.

World champions, United States of America maintained their number position as the best women's team in the world despite managing a single win in their last four games.

Germany, Sweden, England and France complete the top 5.

Reigning African champions, the Banyana Banyana of South Africa are ranked the second-best team in Africa and 54th in the world.

The Super Falcons will compete in next year's women's FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The Waldrum-led team have been pitted in Group B with Canada, Australia and the Republic of Ireland.
