F**king journalists - Amusan clashes with journalist after winning heat

Tobi Amusan Tobi Amusan

Tobi Amusan clashed with a European journalist in the mixed zone after her heat at the women’s 100m hurdles heats at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Amusan failed to respond to the question by the journalist who asked about the charges brought against her by the Athletics Integrity Unit, which have since been vacated.

“I’m talking about my fans, and you’re talking about charges. What charges?” She quizzed.

The journalist then repeated his question about how she feels about the charges brought against her. She leaned in to take a look at the journalist’s name on his accreditation tag before responding: “Mr. Cathal, I am not going to answer you question. You’ve asked the same question five times now and I am not answering it,” she said.

“You run fast, they want to talk about my shoes, you don’t run fast, they want to talk about what’s going on. F**king [inaudible] journalists,” she fumed.

Recall Amusan was cleared one week to the start of the competition after she was initially suspended for missing three doping tests over a 12-month period.

The 26-year-old record holder opened her title defence with a routine 12.49s run to win Heat 5 on Tuesday.

Amusan is the record holder and defending champion in the women’s 100m hurdles, but she almost did not make the trip to Budapest after the AIU suspended her over missing drug tests, just five weeks to the championships.
