Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai has praised the Super Eagles team that played against Costa Rica in a friendly.

Nigeria lost 2-0 to the South American side in San Jose in the early hours of Thursday, November 10.

The purpose of the game was to serve as a warm-up for the Costa Rican team ahead of the FIFA World Cup which kicks off in the next 10 days in Qatar.

Coach Peseiro paraded the locally based Super Eagles team for the clash since the foreign-based players couldn't be available for the encounter.

Two goals in both halves by Oscar Duarte and Kendall Watson ensured sealed a comfortable victory for the home side.

Sharing his thoughts after the game, Peter Rufai insisted that it was a good performance from the team against a strong Costa Rica team.

“This is a good performance from the Super Eagles against a Costa Rican side that paraded their best stars for the encounter," the ex-goalie said as per Complete Sports

"This will further improve the confidence of the players and also gives the Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro an insight on players he can draft to the main team.”

Meanwhile, the first-team squad will be available for Nigeria's next friendly against Portugal on November 17.
