Evra tags Osimhen dream United signing

Patrice Evra has identified Victor Osimhen as the dream addition for his former club Manchester United ahead of next season.

The prolific Nigeria international striker, who is currently on the books of Galatasaray, has been heavily linked with a Premier League move across several transfer windows.

Despite intense speculation linking him with clubs from Merseyside to west London, no deal has materialised.

Instead, the 27-year-old has been in scintillating form in Turkey, helping Galatasaray win back-to-back league titles while interest in his services continues to grow.

Before moving to Turkey, Osimhen inspired S.S.C. Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.

Asked to pick one player he would like to see United sign in the next transfer window, former full-back Evra told GOAL, “Osimhen. I have all due respect for Galatasaray, the love he gets there and the kind of player he is.

“Man United need a proper striker, and I have so much respect for the strikers at Man United, and sometimes Bryan Mbeumo. But back in the day, we had four amazing strikers, and if you want to compete in every competition, you need more strikers.

“Of course, you need some defenders, like an extra left-back and right-back because injuries can happen. Of course, Casemiro is leaving, so you need to replace those players.

“But if I have to name one player, I’ll say Osimhen because I know he can make the difference.”

Evra is not the first former United player to urge the club to move for Osimhen.

Former Red Devils striker Louis Saha, who understands the demands of leading the line at Old Trafford, previously said, “I really like Victor Osimhen. He’s definitely got the character and the quality.

“He’s also got good European pedigree. He was successful in France, became a champion in Italy with Napoli and has gone to Turkey with Galatasaray and been brilliant, despite it probably not being the move he originally wanted.’’

“He’s scored goals at every level. He’s got Champions League experience and the type of personality and charisma this United squad could really benefit from.

“I think he would be a transformational signing for Manchester United. If you think about the pressure he handled at Napoli, leading the club to its first title in 33 years, then he’s the perfect man to lead the line for Manchester United. I think he would have a huge impact at United. I would love to see the club hierarchy move for him because I think he is exactly what we need.”

Rio Ferdinand is another former United star who wanted the club to swoop for Osimhen before his move to Galatasaray.

Now reportedly valued at €150m by Galatasaray, United may have to pay significantly more than they would have last summer if the Turkish giants decide to let him leave.
