Super Eagles legend Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has disclosed that Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho asked him why Nigeria failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

The three-time African champions have failed to qualify for the last two editions of the Mundial, missing out on the Qatar 2022 ticket to Ghana via the playoffs, and the last edition to DR Congo via another African playoff.

Speaking on matters concerning Nigerian football with Mikel Obi on his podcast show, Okocha lauded the former Chelsea midfielder for speaking up against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

"Kudos to you, John Mikel, you're speaking up against the Nigerian Federation," Okocha said.

"I live in Nigeria, and the NFF president is my friend, so it's difficult to speak up.

"I get asked by my colleagues like Ronaldinho why Nigeria hasn't qualified for the World Cup."
