Euro 2024 Playoffs: Teams, paths, matches, and their groupings in European Championship

The group stage draw of the 2024 European Championship has finally been made.

The 21 teams that qualified were distributed into six different groups for Euro 2024

Twelve sides will contest the play-offs this coming March to determine who will join the qualified teams.

Sports Brief looks at the participating countries in the play-offs and where they ended up in the groupings for the Euro 2024 draw.



Group D will be composed of France, Austria, the Netherlands, and the winner of Path A of the play-offs.

Poland, Estonia, Wales, and Finland booked their spots in Path A thanks to their performances in the 2022/23 Nations League, per UEFA.com.

Poland missed out on automatic qualification after finishing third in Group E behind Albania and Czechia in the Euro qualifiers.

Wales missed out on an automatic berth in Euro 2024 after finishing third in Group D behind Turkiye and Croatia.

Finland missed out on an automatic spot in Euro 2024 after finishing third in Group H behind Denmark and Slovenia.

Estonia booked a spot in the play-offs despite finishing bottom of Group F with just one point scored in eight matches. They topped League D of the UEFA Nations League, with the Sinisärgid making up the numbers after not enough teams qualified from Leagues A-C.

Poland will face Estonia in the first semi-final, while Wales will square off against Finland in the second semi-final on March 21.

The winners of those semis matchups will face off in the final on March 26. The winner of that contest will be the fourth member of Group D in Euro 2024.



Group E will be composed of Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, and the winner of Path B of the play-offs.

Israel, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine booked their spots in Path B thanks to their performances in the 2022/23 Nations League.

Israel missed out on automatic qualification after finishing third in Group I behind Romania and Switzerland in the Euro qualifiers.

Iceland missed out on an automatic berth in Euro 2024 after finishing fourth in Group J behind Portugal, Slovakia, and Luxembourg.

Ukraine missed out on an automatic spot in next year’s European Championship after finishing third in Group C behind England and Italy.

Bosnia and Herzegovina booked a spot in the play-offs despite finishing fifth in Group J of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. They were promoted to League A of the UEFA Nations League after finishing top of Group B3.

Israel will face Iceland in the first semi-final, while Ukraine will square off against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second semi-final on March 21.

The winners of those semis matchups will lock horns in the final on March 26. The winner of that contest will be the fourth member of Group E in Euro 2024.



Group F will be composed of Portugal, Turkiye, Czechia, and the winner of Path C of the play-offs.

Georgia, Luxembourg, Greece, and Kazakhstan booked their spots in Path C thanks to their performances in the 2022/23 season of the Nations League.

Georgia missed out on automatic qualification after finishing fourth in Group A behind Scotland, Spain, and Norway in the Euro qualifiers.

Luxembourg missed out on an automatic berth in Euro 2024 after finishing third in Group J behind Portugal and Slovakia.

Greece missed out on an automatic spot in next year’s European Championship after finishing third in Group B behind France and the Netherlands.

Kazakhstan missed out on automatic qualification after finishing third in Group H behind Denmark, Slovenia, and Finland in the Euro qualifiers.

Georgia will face Luxembourg in the first semi-final, while Greece will square off against Kazakhstan in the second semi-final on March 21.

The winners of those semi-final matchups will lock horns in the final on March 26. The winner of that game will be the fourth member of Group F in Euro 2024.
