Espérance pulls out of race to sign Akwa United's Charles Atshimene

Tunisian Giants Espérance has reportedly pulled out of the deal to sign Akwa United striker Charles Atshimene.

The four-time CAF Champions League winners had reached an agreement to sign the 20-year-old, but opted out of the deal following fresh demands by the representatives of the player.

Atshimene scored 19 goals in the 2020-2021 Nigeria Professional Football League Season to lead the Promise Keepers to their first-ever title.

Apart from Espérance, the Atshimene also attracted interest from several Clubs in South Africa, Morocco and Libya.

Meanwhile, his teammate, Olisa Ndah is said to be undergoing a trial at Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns.

The defender left the shores of the country for South Africa few days after Akwa United was crown the winner of the 2020-2021 Nigeria Professional Football League Season.
