Enyimba end 3-match winless run with scrapy win at Wikki Tourists

Enyimba International of Aba returned to winning ways as they grind out a 2-1 win over Wikki Tourists on Wednesday.

The People’s Elephants headed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium hoping to bounce back from elimination from CAF Confederation Cup, while Wikki Tourists were looking for their first win of the second stanza.

Reuben Bala gave Enyimba the lead inside the first quarter of an hour as he turned in Tosin Omoyele’s pass from close range.

Wikki finally had their equalizer a minute to end the first half, when Stephen Gopey tuck in the ball after Enyimba failed to clear their line.

Enyimba restored their lead in the 57th minutes courtesy of Omoyele who buried past Ospino Egbe from a well-crafted pass by Anayo Iwuala thereby ending his run of nine games without a goal for Enyimba.

The hosts searched for an equalizer, but Enyimba held on for the maximum points and ended a run of three matches without a win.
