England progress to R8 after penalty shootout victory against Super Falcons

The Super Falcons failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the FIFA Womens World Cup in Australia and New Zealand after a defeat to England.

England will now face Colombia who defeated Jamaica in the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, August 12.

The Super Falcons dominated the game and even came close as Ashleigh Plumptre hit the crossbar in the first half.

Oshoala came close a couple of times after key player, Lauren James was shown a red card in the second half.

England, the European champions, finished winners of Group D with nine points while Denmark got six points to end second on the log. The Danes play co-hosts Australia in the next game
