England boss Gareth Southgate speaks on Eze's call-up

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has received a call-up by the Three Lions of England for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Eze, an England international of Nigerian descent replaces Raheem Sterling in the squad following his impressive season with the Eagle.

The Nigerian-born star was close to an England call-up for the last edition of the Euros but unfortunately sustained an injury.

Speaking after handing the 24-year-old his first senior call-up, Gareth Southgate described Eze as an admirable player who is useful in a number of positions.

“We’ve liked him for a long time. He was very unfortunate just before the Euros, we were going to call him in and he got an injury on the day.

“He has finished the season really strongly. He can play in a couple of positions across the attacking line.

“Everyone I speak to talks brilliantly about him as a person.”
