El Clasico Controversy: Barcelona ready for rematch

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that the club will call for a rematch of the El clasico if they are able to gather enough evidence against some of the referee decisions in the game.

The Blaugrana's suffered another setback as their hopes of catching up with Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table hit a snag as Los Blancos scored a late winner to extend their lead at the top of La Liga to 11 points.

Andres Christensen gave the visitors the lead at the closed Santiago Bernabeu Stadium early in the 6th minute before Vinicius Junior equalized from the spot to draw the home side level before the break.

Substitute Fermin Lopez restored Barcelona's lead in the second half before Lucas Vaquez equalized few minutes later before setting up Jude Bellingham for the winner in the 90th minute.

The victory means Carlo Ancelotti's side are now 11 points clear of their rivals with 6 matches to play.

Meanwhile, the game was not devoid of controversies as Barcelona believes they were robbed of a clear goal and had dubious penalty awarded against them.

Barcelona believes Yamine Lamal's flick from the corner kick should have been counted as goal while the score was at 1-1.

The Cules believes the ball crossed the goal line and should have been given as goal.

With no goal line technology in La Liga, the referee had to resort to the Video Assistant Referee not to award a goal for the reigning Spanish champions.

Barca president Laporta has now confirmed that the club is analyzing all the images and audios from the incident.

“We asked the RFEF to provide us with all the images and audios of Lamine’s cancelled goal.

“If it was a legal goal, we do not rule out asking to re-play the match.

“We will go further, we do not rule out anything.”
