EPL: Jamie Carragher names PL manager of the season, list 8 contenders

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has outlined nine managers as potential candidates for the Premier League manager of the season.

The ex-Reds defender believes Brighton's boss Roberto De Zerbie is the leading candidate for the best manager of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

The Italian tactician joined the Albions in September 2022, replacing Graham Potter after the English man joined the Blues.

De Zerbie masterminded Brighton's 3-0 win against Arsenal on Sunday, May 14 at the Etihad Stadium, a feat which left the former defender in awe.

Carragher also listed Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe, Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery, Thomas Frank, Gary O’Neil, Marco Silva and Julen Lopetegui as the other 8 contenders.

Manchester United's Erik Ten-Haag did not feature on the list.

In a tweet, Carragher wrote “What a performance from Brighton yet again today, their manager could be manager of the season. Has there ever been so many candidates for that award?”

The win against Arsenal increases Brighton's chances of qualifying for European football next season.
