Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has warned captain Martin Odegaard that he could face healthy competition from teammate Eberechi Eze after the England international netted a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League North London derby on Sunday.
Recall that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta opted to play Eze in the number 10 role in the absence of Odegaard as the Gunners defeated Spurs 4-1.
Three goals from Eze and a goal from Leandro Trossard gave Arsenal the win over Tottenham at Emirates Stadium.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Henry insisted that Eze is a number 10 and not a winger, adding that the former Crystal Palace man needs to play in Arsenal’s midfield.
“By the way, if I was Martin Odegaard,” Henry said. “I said it, this guy [Eze] is a 10 for me, he is not a winger, he is a 10.
“He needs to be in the middle of the park he showed it tonight, so that is what you want, healthy competition that is what you want.”
Arsenal saw off competition from Tottenham to sign Eze from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window.
