Canada head coach, Bev Priestman says her team will be ready for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, despite controversies rocking the team.

The reigning Olympics Champions, Canada, have been in the media recently for the wrong reasons, with the players and Federation going back and forth over bonuses.

However, the players put the controversy behind them and held England to a 0-0 draw in a closed-door preparation match on Friday night.

The game is likely to be their final test game before the World Cup opener against Super Falcons who themselves thrashed local club side, FC Lions 8-1 on Saturday.

Reflecting on her side’s performance, Priestman, said her team is more than ready for the tournament. “I think we definitely took a step forward today. We were a tough team to beat.

To keep a clean sheet against England, you’ve got to be happy with that,” Priestman said after the game. The game between Canadians and Nigeria will hold at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Friday, July 21.
