Cristiano Ronaldo: Trolls as Al Nassr star misses simple tap-in from close range in Asian Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo missed an absolute sitter during Al Nassr's clash with Al-Ain in the Asian Champions League (ACL) on Monday, March 11.

While his side were trailing, Ronaldo had a golden opportunity to level the tie from a rebound, but the Portuguese star shockingly failed to hit the target from about 5 yards out as his effort sailed wide.

Video of the miss has gone viral with fans wondering how the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner missed the open goal.

Despite Ronaldo's miss, Al Nassr found the equaliser and went ahead to win the game in regulation time, beating the United Arab Emirates side 3-2 to send the game into extra time after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

Ronaldo later scored a late penalty in extra time to level matters for his side after Al-Ain had reclaimed the lead in minute 103.

His goal sent the match into penalty shootouts where Al-Ain stunned the Saudi Arabian giants by winning 1-3 in the shootouts. The Portuguese icon scored Al-Nassr's only spot kick.

Despite converting two penalties in the game, it was Ronaldo's earlier missed opportunities that became the biggest talking point as rival fans took to social media to make mockery of him after the game.
