Chelsea forward Cole Palmer faces some late fitness tests after returning back to the club early from international duty.

Palmer was called up by England’s Under 21s during the latest international break and was started on Thursday, October 12 against Serbia in a game where the England youngsters won 9-1.

The England Under 21’s face Slovakia in another crunch game on Monday, but it is believed Palmer will not be part of that squad.

According to GOAL.com, Under-21 manager Lee Carsley has decided against risking him for the game and the forward has reportedly been sent home early with a ‘dead leg’.

Speaking after the game against Serbia, Carsley diffused concern as he said Palmer’s injury was not that serious.

“I think Cole would be fine, but we don’t take any chances with any of the players,” He said as quoted on Football London.
Chelsea take on Arsenal on Saturday, October 21 in the Premier League, and Mauricio Pochettino cannot afford another injury setback, particularly up front.

Among the players in the Chelsea squad that is regaining his spark after a torrid start to the season is Palmer, whose last goal for the club came recently, in a 4-1 win over Burnley on October 7.
