Chuks Aletta advocates for violence in Nigeria football to end

Iconic sports journalist, Dr Chuks Aletta has stated that the resurging violence marring Nigeria’s domestic league should come to a stop.

He made the statement in reaction to the recent violent incidents recorded at venues of Nigeria Professional Football League games, at a seminar organized by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter

Dr Aletta challenged all stakeholders to find ways and means of putting an end to soccer hooliganism in Nigeria.

He further cautioned that it is capable of causing more harm to the game yet to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The media have a role to play in promoting peace in football circle by preaching sportsmanship. Sports journalists could end violence marring domestic football competitions if they report incidents truthfully, analyse games objectively and criticise administrators and officials without bias,” he said.

Dr Chuks Aletta has anchored various sports programmes on several radio and television stations in the country.
