Carlo Ancelotti explains why Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu should host 2030 World Cup final

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said Santiago Bernabeu should host the 2030 World Cup Final. Ancelotti's comments come a few days after Morocco, Spain, and Portugal were named hosts of the tournament.

Federations of both countries have expressed interest in the final being staged in their respective countries. The first three matches will be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

According to the Athletic, FIFA rules state that a final must be held in a stadium with a capacity of at least 80,000. Barcelona's Camp Nou has a capacity of 90,000 and would be an option, but authorities in Spain hinted that Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu should host the final.

Morocco are reportedly keen to host the final in Casablanca in a 90,000-seater stadium they are expected to construct.

Moreover, the biggest stadium in Portugal can host 65,000.

FIFA are set to decide how many games will be held in the three host nations, but the Santiago Bernabeu is the favourite to host the final as they did in 1982 when Italy beat West Germany 3-1.

Ancelotti backs Santiago Bernabeu

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid's clash against Osasuna, Ancelotti said Bernabeu should host the final because it is the best stadium in the world.

“The World Cup final has to be played in Madrid, because Madrid is the capital of Spain. And it has to be played at the Bernabeu because the Bernabeu is going to be the best stadium in the world. Simply for that reason,” via Football Espana.
There is still a way to go until fans can know where the final will be held, and Ancelotti has already made his pick.
