'Cancel World Cup' – African fans lament Sadio Mane's WC miss

Following the heartbreaking news of Sadio Mane's injury which cast doubts on his chances of featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, some disappointed fans have called for the cancellation of this year's FIFA World Cup.

The 30-year-old limped off during Bayern Munich's 6-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga on Tuesday night.

The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup will kick off in the next 11 days in the Gulf region of Qatar.

African champions, Senegal have been drawn into Group A with host Qatar, Netherlands, and Ecuador.
